I have received several massages from Dawn Wagner in 2016. In my first session with her, Dawn was able to resolve an ongoing trigger point issue in my thigh using deep tissue techniques. I have not had any trouble with it since. Due to my active lifestyle and lots of tennis, I also have low back and neck issues. Her deep tissue techniques have helped more than any chiropractic care I have received over the years. I tried a Myofascial Release massage most recently and it was SOOOOO relaxing. This is the answer if you need to relax or are so stressed that you are not sleeping. I fell asleep several times during the hour appointment.                                                           Maggie S. certified recreational therapist

I had been suffering from severe migraines and tension headaches for over a year.  A few fender benders and a desk job really took their toll on my neck.  When I began having headaches daily, combined with nausea and vomiting, the chiropractor I worked for began giving me weekly adjustments.  This resulted in fewer headaches, but still had a headache 4 -5 times/month.  Sometimes my neck was so tight that it could not be adjusted.  After my first massage with Dawn, I began to realize how tight my neck muscles were and how this affected the rest of my body. I have gone two months now without a severe headache.

Over the last decade, I have had sporadic symptoms of plantar fasciitis.  I talked to Dawn about this and she recommended massage.  I will admit, I was skeptical but I did not want my feet to get any worse, so I decided to give it a try.  The change was gradual, but after a few appointments, I began noticing that my feet hurt less especially upon taking my first step every morning.  I don't fear that my first step will be painful anymore.  Dawn and I talked about the shoes I wear and how they contribute to plantar fasciitis.  Now I know what I need to do to take care of my feet so I can say goodbye to this pain for good!                                                                                                                                          Natalie H.

I was referred to Dawn Wagner by my sister who experienced good results with massage therapy as treatment for achilles tendonitis. Being a nurse, I was somewhat skeptical, but decided to give it a try.  I had plantar fasciitis for 4 months by then and was frustrated to have it in the first place. Dawn told me at our first session that plantar fasciitis often arises due to increased activity using any particular muscle group. I had been walking a lot this past fall (2013) and often the same route. Dawn also told me that in order not to overwork any muscle group, there needs to be variety in my route.  Why didn't I know that? I was doing light exercise when I began massage therapy and Dawn told me that I could continue with that, plus do some stretching before and after exercise.  Dawn told me that she usually sees results within 6-8 weeks, but I only saw her 4 times.  Guess I was ahead of the curve! I went to San Diego in January 2014 to see my son. We did an hour of biking, an hour of hiking, and played bocce ball on the beach for two hours. I was concerned how that would go as my son is quite athletic and I like to keep up with him even if that means pushing myself. My foot and leg held up with no consequences.  Thanks for your help, Dawn.                 Cheryl R.

I'd been experiencing considerable pain in my lower back and upper right leg, making it quite difficult for me to sit for prolonged periods of time, which was routinely required for my job and my 20-30 mile commute to work. After several months of increasing pain, I had an x-ray revealed deterioration of L4 caused by degenerative arthritis, resulting in sciatica. My doctor prescribed Celebrex, but I began research for alternative treatment as I did not trust the possible side-effects of the drug. After 3 months of unsatisfactory chiropractic treatments, I decided to see Dawn Wagner, a Massage Therapist at Massage & Bodywork due to her experience. I did not want to go to a spa or salon as I knew I needed therapy. I could tell from Dawn's bio that she promoted massage as a health service. It was indeed a wise decision. Bi-monthly and then monthly sessions, plus an herb Dawn mentioned, Super-Cissus, which helps with muscle and tendon pain, I made gradual improvements.  It was slow at first which Dawn made sure to mention when we began, but after a little over a year, I hardly experience any pain. This was recently substantiated (December 2013) after an 1,800 mile drive, which would have been pure torture the year before. I am truly grateful to Dawn and her ability to help me overcome sciatica and return to a normal life free from pain.                                                   Denny N.

I began seeing Dawn in 2004 for therapeutic massage and have remained a steady client.  Each session with her seems better than the last and I always leave her studio more calm and relaxed then I am at any other time during the week.  From her friendly conversation and person concern, to her comfortable studio, soothing music and superb mastery of massage technique, everything is conducive to melting away the tension from muscle and mind.  For one hour it is incredible to experience how the world can condense to that small table and nothing else matters.  I have struggled for years with clinical depression and feel that my sessions with Dawn have been extremely valuable as an adjunct to medical treatment.  She has never made any exaggerated claims for massage therapy, but I know how I feel.  Thanks is too little for the terrific things you have done for me, Dawn!                                                                                            Tom E.

I wanted to share my success story in regards to neck and shoulder pain.  I have tried physical therapy, ultrasound, steroid injections, rest (not exercising), manipulation - all the traditional pain relief methods and massage therapy has worked the best.  Dawn has worked on my neck and shoulder for approx. 6 sessions and the results have been amazing! I have less pain, greater range of motion and am able to exercise again.  I am in the nursing field and simply cannot believe that massage is not a covered medical service.  Massage has truly been the only therapy that has worked for me.  Thanks Dawn!  I am now able to perform my duties without pain and am working towards greater range of motion.                                                                                                                                                                                    Susan M.

I had a complete hysterectomy in October 2006.  I learned that I had stage 4 endometriosis causing my abdominal organs to become glued together.  What should have been routine was traumatic and the recovery seemed endless.  Initially the sensitivity to the abdominal area, in fact the entire midsection was extreme.  I was forced to wear clothing several sizes too big.  Anything that came close to fitting within 10 minutes rendered me completely sick with violent heartburn and muscle discomfort.  I talked to numerous doctors and tried various exercises (some of which could not be tolerated).  As time went on, the senstivity became more acute.  Late December 2006, a friend of mine suggested soft tissue therapy.  The first time I saw Dawn she expressed concern that the therapy may cause me additional discomfort.  I assured her that I was prepared for some discomfort if the end result would be positive.  I saw Dawn for 10-12 sessions over a period of 4 months.  Some sessions were more successful than others, but the end result from the massage therapy that Dawn provided has enabled me to wear fitted clothing.  The difference has been remarkable.  I am extremely grateful to Dawn for helping me overcome the incredibly troubling effect of major surgery.  85% of women have complications from scar tissue after a hysterectomy.  I would highly recommend soft tissue therapy to anyone recovering from surgery that has had any impact on their soft tissue.                                                                                                 Robin D.

I began seeing Dawn after I was involved in a car accident.  I was broad-sided and suffered a mild concussion.  My left neck, shoulder and upper back muscle tissues were inflamed.  I went to physical therapy, but that only exacerbated the inflammation.  My physical therapist recommended massage therapy.  The first thing I noticed about Dawn was her genuine concern for my healing process.  She mentioned that massage therapy generally should not hurt, but due to my inflammation there could be some initial discomfort.  She was right!  However, after the first 2 sessions, my pain was drammatically decreased.  In fact, after the third session, I could rotate my head fully to both sides, raise my arm above my head and twist at my waist without any resistance or discomfort.  WOW!  I am a believer of massage therapy.  Dawn taught me that massage therapy is more than fluff!                                                         Tim C.

I began seeing Dawn when she was still a student at the Universal College of Healing Arts.  One of her strengths as a student was her attention to details and her desire to really help.  She always gave 110% and that has not changed since becoming a Licensed Massage Therapist.  I work for a busy insurance company and feel stress and tension in my neck and shoulders daily.  We had discussed while she was a student the importance of massage therapy and wellness in the workplace.  In November 2003, Dawn became an essential addition to my office's wellness program.  She comes twice monthly, offering chair massages to employees.  I know that I am able to work through the day with less pain and more focus after I have received a chair massage.  I am so grateful to Dawn for her compassion and her caring touch.                Julie R.
